Alab Pilipinas is locked into the second-seed, but will enter the 2018-2019 Asean Basketball League (ABL) on a four-game losing skid.
The Filipinos suffered their latest setback at the hands of home team Saigon, 80-81, on Sunday inside the CIS Arena in Vietnam.
Renaldo Balkman played his first game since getting concussed and posted 25 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, while Ray Parks Jr. continued his strong showings as of late with 16 markers and two dimes in this one.
The two teams were going at it until late and Parks had to give the Philippines a slight cushion, but had his layup blocked by Kyle Barone.
Not long after, Trevon Hughes split from the stripe to lift Vietnam to a win to end the elimination round.
On the other hand, Alab is yet to win again after almost a month.
They will need to get back into their groove as they enter a three-game quarterfinals series opposite Hong Kong beginning on Friday.
SAIGON HEAT 81 – Hughes 24, Barone 22, Hamilton 17, Tran 7, Dierker 6, Cilia 3, Young 2.
