Bangus Festival kicks off in Dagupan City

DAGUPAN CITY — Hundreds of dancers joined the Gilon-gilon, a bangus harvest dance, in this city is known for its tastiest and juiciest milkfish, or more popularly known as bangus in the country.

Gilon-gilon depicts the techniques in harvesting bangus from the ponds.

Dancers moved to the beat of the drums with their colorful costumes and props.

Thousands of visitors witnessed the event.

Around 15 street dancers, however, experienced heat exhaustion due to the high temperature.

The winning contingent took home the P200,000 cash prize.

The month-long festival also features a milkfish cookfest and a street party, which will be held in the coming days.
