A barangay tanod (sentry) was arrested in a drug buy-bust

With the joint efforts of SPD’s District Drug Enforcement Unit
(DDEU) and the Taguig City police, Suwaib Mamalangkay, 42,
was arrested at his home on Maharlika Road at the border of
Barangay Central Bicutan and Barangay Maharlika.

According to DDEU head Chief Insp. Jerry Amindalan, the suspect
sold 50 grams of shabu to an undercover cop.

The suspect admitted he was a drug user but denied owning the
illegal drugs found in his sling bag: 2 kilograms of shabu
worth 10 million.

Also seized from the suspect were a hand grenade and a
.45-caliber pistol .

Mamalangkay was suspected to be using his night-shift duty in
Central Bicutan to discreetly sell illegal drugs in the area.

He had been under surveillance for months.

It turned out Mamalangkay, a Cotabato native and also
known as Wabie Alim, spent five months in jail in 2015 for the
alleged murder of his own wife.

His other criminal records include gun-for-hire activities, car
theft, and a restaurant robbery in Parañaque City in November

that Mamalangkay had been part of the drug
trade since 2005, involved in his network of suppliers in
Taguig, Parañaque Muntinlupa and Pateros.

The suspect is now detained and facing non-bailable
charges.
