‘Climate strike’ ikinasa ng environmental group sa oil refinery sa Batangas

BATANGAS—Hindi natinag ng malakas na ulan ang mga kasapi ng Greenpeace Philippines sa pagsasagawa ng “climate strike” sa harap ng isang oil refinery sa Taclobo Club, Barangay Road, lungsod ng Batangas Biyernes ng umaga.

“This peaceful protest is a bold challenge to fossil fuel companies to show accountability for their role in the climate crisis heed the call of climate-impacted communities for justice,” pahayag ng Greenpeace ukol sa kanilang “silent protest.”

Walong aktibista ang umupo at hinarangan ang daan papasok at palabas sa isang oil refinery.

Ayon kay Lea Guerrero, country director ng Greenpeace Philippines, ramdam na rin ng mga magsasaka ang epekto ng climate crisis.

Pahayag naman ng Shell: “Shell fully acknowledges the right of Greenpeace and others to express their point of view. We only ask that they do so with their safety and the safety of others, including our staff, our partners’ personnel and customers, in mind.”

Bahagi ang protesta ng global protest on climate change na “Global Climate Strike” mula Setyembre 20 hanggang 27.
