MANILA — State weather bureau PAGASA has recorded the highest temperature in Metro Manila, so far, for 2019.
PAGASA weather forecaster Ariel Rojas said the temperature in Metro Manila peaked at 36.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday. It was recorded at 2:56 p.m. in Science Garden in Quezon City.
The Science Garden is PAGASA’s representative station in Metro Manila, Rojas explained.
Meanwhile, the highest maximum heat index recorded on Sunday was at 49.6 degrees Celsius in Dagupan City, Pangasinan at 2 p.m.
The heat index in Science Garden, Quezon City and at the Port Area in Manila were both at 38 degrees Celsius.
Rojas said the dry weather will persist as the easterlies will continue to affect the country.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms are expected in Bicol region, Visayas and Mindanao, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers may persist in Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
