KJ McDaniels scored 37 points, including a key 3-pointer with 1:47 left in the game, as TNT beat Alaska 99-93 in overtime the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup at Ynares Center in Antipolo on Friday.

McDaniels also hit the game-tying basket — a layup with 5 seconds in regulation — that enabled overtime, which TNT needed to extend its perfect start to the tournament to 8 wins.

In the extension, McDaniels buried a stepback triple to give TNT a 95-91 lead with less than 2 minutes remaining, then hit 2 free throws later to ice the game.

Troy Rosario added 23 points, while McDaniels also finished with 13 rebounds, 6 blocks and 5 assists.

Chris Banchero led Alaska with 13 points and 9 rebounds, while Jesper Ayaay added 9 points.

Ayaay could have given the Aces (1-6) the win outright, but he missed a baseline layup as time expired in regulation.

In the first game, Baser Amer scored 17 points to lead Meralco to a 106-97 win over Blackwater.

Meralco upped its record to 4-2, while Blackwater fell to 2-4.
